The architectural marvel known as Nordon Manor is listed with Prudential Real Estate for $10,990,000. The estate is unlike any other property in Phoenix in the fact that it is an exact replica of an 18th century Pennsylvania farmhouse.

The five-acre estate, located in the Arcadia, which is a high-end community between Phoenix and Scottsdale, recreates the charm and elegance of a North Eastern farmhouse, but with the sunshine and cosmopolitan surroundings of Phoenix. The unique and spectacular elements of Nordon Manor have been showcased on PBS Channel’s “This Old House” as well as in Colonial Home Magazine. It is considered to be one of the few architectural gems located in the Southwest region, let alone Phoenix. The owners strived to bring East Coast opulence and luxury to the Valley of the Sun, and now it’s on the market for a unique buyer to call home.

The small yet intricate details are the defining feature in the property. From the glass windows taken directly out of Pennsylvania farmhouses, to the open “ice house” structure in the back; no detail was ever overlooked in creating authenticity and staying with tradition.  Even the paint colors are similar to what one would find in homes in colonial Williamsburg, Penn. An example of the high level of accuracy found in the property is that the brick used for the house was made at the Alwine Brick Company in New Oxford Penn., and transported to Phoenix in one railroad car. The main house contains 5,500 square feet of over-the-top luxuries with four bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms. The summer house offers 3,000 additional square feet, including a kitchenette, upstairs apartment, bar, fireplace and games room.

The Pennsylvania farmhouse replica is situated in a citrus grove, allowing the owners to experience the convenience of the city of Phoenix while also enjoying the laid-back country feeling. The green and lush setting helps create a picturesque backdrop against the brown Camelback Mountain views.

Built in 1971, the owners spent a total of 26 months planning, designing and finally building Nordon Manor. Frank Auspitz, a nationally-acclaimed 18th century-furniture designer, consulted on the project. The amount of time spent planning and the intensive labor involved in to the house is clearly evident. The same owners who built Nordon Manor nearly four decades ago still occupy the extravagant and meticulously-built home today.

A few of the home’s many lavish amenities include oak hardwood floors, seven wood-burning fireplaces, a 20 by 40 foot heated swimming pool, and crown molding in the living room, dining room and master bedroom. Other features include partial-underground parking for up to three cars and marble countertops throughout the house.

Look like somewhere you could call home? For just over $10 million it could be yours. For more information on this listing, contact Mackey Martin of Prudential Arizona Properties at 602-225-8055.
