Don’t save a trip to these delicious dining destinations for a rainy day. Here’s a few of our favorite Portland, Ore., restaurants that cover everything from sushi to fresh-from-the-oven pretzels.

Bridgeport Brewpub

Portland is a huge microbrew cluster, so grabbing a beer is a must when in the City of Roses. We suggest a stop at this rustic-contemporary brewpub—its supercasual atmosphere is a great place to watch your favorite team on its several televisions. Order the fresh-baked pretzels with tangy beer spreads for a starter, and wash it down with a sampler of eight of Bridgeport’s most popular brews. For under $8, the sampler really is a steal.

Bluehour

Enjoy a special occasion dinner or a lovely lunch at this incredibly chic restaurant in the Pearl District. The pucker-inducing sparkling lemonade is a must, and try the traditional but wonderfully delicious turkey club sandwich mid-day. For something different, give Bluehour’s multicourse tasting menu a go.

50 Plates

Another Pearl District feasting favorite is 50 Plates. Sharing a slew of small plates and Silver Dollar Sammies (we especially love the fried chicken sandwiched between two waffles, and the Carolina pulled pork on a sweet potato roll) makes for a great, sophisticated date night. The seafood offerings are also top-notch if you’re craving something a bit heartier. Plus, 50 Plates gives diners a bonus dessert—a heaping spoonful of rich chocolate ganache—alongside the bill.

Portland City Grill

There’s something for just about everyone on the bill of fare at Portland City Grill, from steaks and seafood to yummy sushi rolls and cocktails. The lavender martini is not to be missed. The real scene stealer at this popular restaurant is the amazing views of Portland and the Cascade Mountains. The romantic eatery sits on the 30th floor so be sure to reserve a spot near the windows to take advantage of the sunset and city lights. Portland City Grill just started serving up brunch, as well.

Cupcake Jones

While this cupcake bakery is tucked away in the Pearl District, it sure is worth looking for. Cupcake Jones offers three cupcake varieties a day, with the red velvet offering, topped with a sugared rose petal, being a favorite. Seasonal varieties are also very popular, like the lip-smacking pumpkin chocolate chip. Plus, the cupcakes come in jumbo or mini sizes—so you can eat as much or as little as you’d like.
