The common golf fashion adage is truer today than ever before— looking good is half the battle on the course. When you look good and feel confident, it is one less thing to worry about. One area of golf fashion that is typically overlooked is the contents of the golf bag. Accessorizing your fourteen best friends during the round can serve as a personality and fashion statement while also enhancing function.
Arizona-based AB Golf Designs is a market leader for attention-grabbing specialty head covers and accessories. Although the company produces several fun and stylish club-covering options, their newest line called “Bling” is likely to find its way into the golf bag’s of women golfers everywhere. AB Golf will debut the Bling line, a series of crystal-encrusted styles geared toward female players, at the PGA Merchandise Show from Jan. 28-30 in Orlando.
Embellished with a variety of playful designs, these premium head covers are available in a rainbow of colors to dress up any golfer's clubs. Their introduction coincides with the re-branding of AB Golf Designs, formerly known as Butthead Covers. "Our goal is to offer something for everyone, and by adding to the popular Butthead collection with new lines, we cater to golfers of all ages and abilities," says D.J. Langer, co-owner of AB Golf Designs. "The Bling line allows fashion-conscious women a chance to translate their personal style to the course and show off a little bit, regardless of how well they play."
Golfers looking to dress up their clubs are in good company, AB Golf currently adds a customized look to the golf bags of players on many of the top professional golf tours. LPGA Tour stars Christina Kim and Yani Tseng are two of the most notable players who sport the creative club covers.
The centerpiece of the collection is the Swing Bling, a pink head cover featuring the embroidered silhouette of a female golfer outlined in crystals. At its base is the pink ribbon emblem, signifying breast cancer awareness and AB Golf Designs' commitment to the Maurer Foundation. A portion of proceeds from the sale of every Swing Bling, along with the company's new ‘Think Pink’ style from the Have a Heart line, will be donated to the not-for-profit organization to assist with its breast health education programs. "Given the Bling line's feminine appeal, it was the perfect opportunity to help raise breast cancer awareness and support the cause," says co-owner Chip Burley.
