Autumn Activities for All

After Labor Day it’s just a matter of time until summer slips away and we are surrounded by autumn air. Take advantage of the fall season and head outdoors, or do something a little different than usual. The West Coast is a gorgeous place to be come autumn, and here are a few of our favorite fall activities. All of these ideas are great for families, friends and couples who are looking for something new to do.

Apple Picking in the West: Nothing says autumn like crisp apples picked right from the tree. Dress in your coziest sweater and head out to the country to pick a bushel of apples. This is a family tradition for many households and it’s a great date idea for couples old and new. Hiking in Arizona and California: The air is finally cool and the mountains to the north are begging to be explored. Grab your sturdy shoes, some water and a buddy and head outside. Watch the fall leaves as they change color and enjoy a picnic in the crisp outdoors. Here are some great trails and interesting information to look at before you set foot on your hike:

State Fairs Everywhere: Fall means state fairs, no matter where you are located. Be sure to check your local listings and make an evening of it when your fair rolls in to town. Often there are great concerts to attend, and there are always interesting sights to see and delicious carnival food to enjoy. Children will take away great memories and the fair is always a place to spark a little romance – ferris wheel anyone?

Host a Family BBQ: Start the holiday season off early and invite friends and family over for a backyard fall BBQ. Cool burger, corn on the cob and roast potatoes and serve warm apple pie for dessert. If your area allows, create a safe bonfire area in the yard where kids can be supervised and make S’mores.
