OB Sports Golf Management and Longbow Golf Club recently announced the opening of the OB Sports Golf Academy. Located at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Arizona, the OB Sports Golf Academy is a comprehensive golf instruction program that is dedicated to enhancing the student’s golf skills as well as guiding their overall development as a golfer.  Led by Director of Instruction, Jeff Fisher, and Director of Player Development, Stacie Bryan, students of the academy will benefit from personalized instruction along every step of their development as a golfer including during weekend play days and tournament appearances.

“One of the strengths of the program lies in our ability to not only give students first-class instruction, but also to provide a place for them to practice the skills they learn and implement those skills on the golf course,” said Fisher.  “Because Longbow and OB Sports have thrown their full support behind the academy, we are able to make good on our motto:  Learn. Practice. Play!  It’s an effective and straight-forward formula.  Students receive lessons, unlimited practice time and the ability to play for one very reasonable monthly fee.”

While the academy will offer instructional programs for adults and juniors, the junior programming promises to be unlike anything currently offered in the region if not the country.

“Most sports offer club-sport type activities that engage players in their respective sports year round.  Until now, golf didn’t really have that,” said Phil Green, President of OB Sports Golf Management.  “We’re excited to fill that gap with a comprehensive year-round program that is truly committed to player development.”

The junior program at the OB Sports Golf Academy is designed to recognize each golfer’s personal goal within the game, and implement a customized lesson plan to reach that goal.  Then, junior golfers are matched to the appropriate starting point based on their initial skills – Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced or Elite.  Each level of the program prepares the students for the next level, and periodic skills tests are used to determine when a golfer is ready to jump to the next level.

“It’s similar to karate where students earn different color belts based on their skills and development.  It’s a student-centered program that’ll take them as far as they want to go in the game of golf,” said Stacie Bryan, Director of Player Development. “Whether their goal is to hone basic skills, garner more AJGA exemptions or earn a college scholarship, OB Sports Golf Academy is designed to make it happen.”

Bryan began her life in the game of golf as a highly ranked junior golfer, and went on to earn a golf scholarship from the University of Hawaii.   As a longtime member of the LPGA, she worked with and learned from golf’s top instructors including Mike and Sandy LaBauve, and has taught golf in Arizona for more than 15 years.

At the Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels, students receive group instruction with a limited group size to allow for plenty of individual attention.  At the Elite level the instruction is totally one on one with the instructor. All levels of the program offer weekend practice and play days where students will enjoy a supervised practice session followed by group play on the golf course. Every level of the program is designed and overseen by the Director of Instruction to assure that every golfer gets the best instruction the academy has to offer.

The class for each group meets once per week for 90 minutes with a maximum 5:1 student-to-teacher ratio and includes weekend play times as well as an OB Sports Golf Academy shirt and hat. The group instruction fees start at just $150 per month. All levels receive a monthly practice card included in the monthly instruction fee, and juniors are allowed to play for free after 3 pm. Pricing and instructional focus varies at each level, and special introductory packages are being offered for a limited time.
